The best time to travel by campervan in Norway depends entirely on what kind of trip you want. Some people want long bright evenings and full summer energy. Others would rather have quieter roads, clearer air, and fewer people around. There is no single right answer, but some periods suit certain types of trips better than others.
May
May is a lovely month if you like the feeling that the season is just beginning. The landscape is green and fresh, the waterfalls are full of snowmelt, and many places feel open and calm.
The downside is that the weather can be more unstable, and some mountain passes may still be closed.
June and July
This is the period many people associate with the classic Norway trip. The days are long, many mountain roads are open, and it is easy to spend a lot of time outdoors. If you head north, you also get the midnight sun in parts of the country.
